If you have been wondering where to start as far as self-care. Use this DIY idea to reward yourself with some rest and relaxation. This kit will become your go-to when you need some mental, physical and spiritual reboot. Be very selective with items you include. Be mindful of every moment. Pack it with things that genuinely make you happy, and help you cope with the tough emotions. The idea is to add items that help you manage your mental and physical health. Decide on any of the below options to begin your process of having a self-care box.
Option 1: Pick up an old Shoebox and turn into a Self-care box
Use an old shoebox, that is in good enough condition to be decorated. Use some magazines to cut out images then create a collage. You may also use some markers, glitter glue and paint to decorate the box.
Taking the time to decorate the box will transform it into something really special. The idea of the shoebox is for it to be accessible and mobile.
Option 2: Pick up a storage box or basket.
Go through your garage or a nearby store where you can purchase a basket or storage box. Pick one that is large enough to fill with preferred items but not so large that you can’t access it.
Option 3: Pick up a small pouch for mobility.
You may want to have a self-care box on the go. Having a smaller pouch or an old makeup bag that you can travel with will go a very long way. You can store this in your car, work desk or day to day bag.
Note that you may want to focus on miniature items (like lotions and small writing pads) so you can fit all the items you want.
Option 4:Use an old cardboard shipping box.
Reuse any cardboard boxes you have laying around from past moves or online orders. Wrap the outside in decorative paper and drape some pretty cloth along the inside to give it a special touch.
You may want to reinforce the bottom of the box with duct or shipping tape so it can support any heavy items you might put in it.
